The municipality of Neapoli-Sykies is a local public authority located in the Thessaloniki urban area in northern Greece. It is one of the 6 municipalities that constitute the metropolitan city of Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece. Neapoli-Sykies is a financially healthy municipality, a densely populated one, which offers to its 85.000 citizens a large range of services, and it is one of the Greek municipalities with the largest number of integrated social services established for its residents. As far as urban initiatives are concerned, the municipality is currently active in fields and projects related to urban accessibility, regeneration of parks and urban space, environmental reengineering, landscaping green space, clean urban transport, etc.
Among the main challenges of the municipality are green and digital transition, inclusiveness, sustainable urban development, circular economy and smart city concepts, energy transition and efficiency, renovation of old housing with the aim to transforming into social policy, waste management, adaptation to climate change, social inclusion. Building a sustainable, beautiful, and inclusive future, is among the main priorities of the municipality to be further developed in the next coming years. Thus, the Municipality of Neapoli-Sykies is interested in joining a partnership, that will propose innovative urban solutions in the areas of adapting and transforming buildings for affordable housing solutions, regenerating urban spaces, and constructing and renovating in a spirit of circularity and carbon neutrality. Municipality’s ambition is to be a green and inclusive place and provide all its residents with access to circular and less carbon-intensive goods, that support the regeneration of nature and protect biodiversity.
