Anoia, E-bike Land is a project that aims to develop slow tourism products based on sustainability and social values. We will use new technologies to create an innovative methodology for socio-economic development through the implementation of integral sustainable tourist products. Through this methodology we will implement an E-bike network in our region. In this network, we want to create an immersive experience of the region and a value-based ecosystem to benefit all the stakeholders.
This innovative methodology will be transferable to other similar regions, cities or destinations that either want to develop tourism or change their tourism paradigm. The methodology and the management are based on  the bottom-up participation of residents, companies, SMEs, associations, etc. in the co-creation and the implementation of the project.
Characteristics of the transfer partners
EUI-IA projects are submitted by a Main Urban Authority (MUA) that, in cooperation with local and regional stakeholders, develops and tests the innovative solution.
In addition, the project intends to involve Transfer Partners. Transfer Partners are urban authorities which join the Project Partnership in order to follow and learn from the experimentation. It is expected that each EUI-IA project will have 3 Transfer Partners from other Member States than the Main Urban Authority.Â
Any urban authority of a local administrative unit defined according to the degree of urbanisation (DEGURBA) of Eurostat as city, town or suburb (corresponding to DEGURBA code 1 or DEGURBA code 2 of Eurostat) and located in the European Union can become a Transfer Partner. There is no minimum number of inhabitants required (cities of all sizes can become Transfer Partners). Transfer Partners – cities interested in learning from the experimentation and replicating the innovative solution, following the project implementation, and providing the Main Urban Authority with an external perspective related to the transferability and replicability of the experimented innovative solution.
Each transfer partner will have a budget allocation of 150.000€ (120.000€ ERDF and 30.000€ of own contribution of the Transfer Partner) and are expected to deliver, at least, the following outputs:
- Self-assessment Transfer Capacity Surveys and
- Replication Feasibility and Opportunity Study.
More information on the involvement of Transfer Partners can be found in the call for proposals’ guidelines (see Chapter 5. Transfer).
Preferably, Transfer Partners should accomplish the following profiles:
Transfer partner 1 - City DEGURBA code 1 o 2 that wants to start developing tourism to improve its social-economic situation and to replicate the methodology and the value-based ecosystem to develop its own tourist product from the bottom-up, based on sustainability and social values.
Transfer partner 2 – A small city with a large municipality district, not-urbanized and full of natural areas and paths. Preferably from Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Portugal, South of Italy, or similar, willing to develop slow tourism through the same methodology and values. Interested also in a tourist product based on developing an E-bike network along the entire municipal district.
Transfer partner 3 - Tourist city DEGURBA code 1 or 2 with a tradition in tourism seeking to change its paradigm and make its products sustainable through a similar ecosystem following our methodology.
Main Urban Authority (MUA) Information and contact details
MUA and project leader – Consell Comarcal de l’Anoia (Anoia County Council)- is a supramunicipal organism composed by 33 municipalities and 125.065 inhabitants. 80,7% of the population live in urban municipalities and only19,3% of the population live in rural municipalities.
Anoia is one of the most economically depressed areas in the region of Catalonia. It is mainly a rural county, although it has two industrial centres, in the centre and in the south, where most of the population is concentrated. It is located 60km (50min drive) from Barcelona city. Anoia boasts a rich cultural and natural heritage that explains its past and present. It is also a perfect territory for electric bicycles, full of trails and moderate slopes. Sustainable tourism is seen as a real powerful asset to enrich and develop both the economy and the well-being of our citizens. Our aim is therefore to innovate and develop a sustainable tourism offer based on cycling to create the storytelling and the brand of the region in the tourism sector.
